Canadian Autorama: An Illustrated History of Rod & Custom Car Shows from 1957 – 1965

The focus of this book is on the earliest period of Canadian-based custom car and hot rod shows and the pioneers of our hobby that presented them to the public. The shows presented here represent their true purpose, which was to show fellow enthusiasts what was being driven on the streets, and with patience and skill, what could be built and enjoyed by a new generation of hot rod and custom car enthusiasts. Although the traditional rod & custom car show experience changed drastically over the years, it only emphasizes what was so charming about the early shows presented in this collection. In many ways, these events were a starting point for many car enthusiasts throughout Canada, and yet another evolutionary point in the history of our beloved hobby.

During my visit to GM’s St. Catharines facility, I saw firsthand the talent and innovation that continue to make Canada’s auto sector a global leader. The agreement between GM and Unifor, alongside continued investment, sends an important signal about the future of Canadian automotive manufacturing and the good-paying jobs it supports.
