Never have the IMF & World Bank attracted so little interest. The US ignores them & bails out Argentina on its own. The IFI funding is less & less critical. 2. No major international policy issues were at stake. 3. On the positive side, no major financial crisis is apparent. 4. Yet, with the Trump administration, no global agreement is likely on any point. Its rejection of any green agenda is just one example. 5. Untypically, a major arms fair seemed almost as important in Washington as the IMF/World Bank meetings. Arms appear more important than money. 6. One country stood out with president, PM and many ministers here – 🧢Ukraine, but 👂it got nothing, so that was just waste. 7. Strikingly many usual participants did not attend this year. The US does not little for other countries & many people have problems getting US visas, so why go to the US?
